Iran, Syria call for lifting Gaza blockade

TEHRAN, Jan. 08 (MNA) -- Iran’s parliamentary speaker Ali Larijani in a meeting with Syrian President Bashar Asad in Damascus on Wednesday emphasized the need for lifting the Gaza blockade.

The two sides urged the Arab, Islamic, and the international community to take actions to put an end to the Zionist regime’s attacks on the Gaza Strip and lift the siege on the coastal enclave.

The necessity of immediate access to medical and humanitarian aid to Gaza residents were among the main topics discussed at the meeting.

Iranian ambassador to Syria Ahmad Mousavi and Syrian parliament speaker Mahmoud al-Abrash and Asad’s political and media advisor Buthaina Shaaban also attended the meeting.

During his stay in Damascus, Larijani was to hold talks with the Syrian parliament speaker about the Gaza tragedy and adopting policies on immediate halt to the massacre of the people.

Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip has so far led to death of at least 690 Palestinians, mostly civilians.
